In 2020, the L.O.V.E. Golftech Committee was honored to renamed the tournament to the VERNON ECHOLS MEMORIAL CLASSIC.
The L.O.V.E. Golftech Tournament began in 1998 when tournament founder, the late Vernon L. Echols, wanted a way to give back to his community. With a long history of civic engagement and sports enthusiasm, Mr. Echols decided that hosting a charity tournament at the LPGA International Golf Course in Daytona Beach would be a great opportunity. The first L.O.V.E. Golftech Connection Invitational Tournament had 32 players.
November 2018, marked the 20th year of the profoundly successful annual tournament, which has grown to over 200 players. The major beneficiaries of the tournament are local youth community charities. Mr. Echols left a legacy that was not meant to end with his passing.
